Paper details

Indian classical music has been performed for centuries and was created for the upper
classes to enjoy in their palaces. It wasn’t until the 20th century that common people
could hear this music, due to the development of the public concert hall, recording
and radio, and the railroad, which allowed musicians to travel and be heard by a
larger audience. Why does music that is so old still have an audience today?
Can you think of another classical music tradition that has
shared a similar history?
